Film 03 - Upcoming Film Project

This is the production reel of work in progress, tentatively titled Drum and Dance.

It tells the story of the oldest instrument other than the voice as well as the oldest form of physical expression. Our tale starts with the Djembe drum, from its inception in the forests of Guinea, then shipped via ocean, some say they travel similar routes of the over the Middle Passage to Brooklyn, New York. The story will be told from the voices of some the most celebrated African drummers, dancers, singers and drum makers and dancers from Guinea as well as from other parts of the African Diaspora, mainly focusing on New York. Exhilarating performances throughout, offset by the challenges of an artist’s life and fight to keep this part of African culture alive and pass on to future generations.
